In the
great and
scenic outdoors
...
The
Westminster area is surrounded by forests and wildlife
that is certain to fascinate and attract both flora
and fauna lovers, and outdoor sports enthusiasts of
all types! Wachusett Mountain towers over the
town of Westminster, providing a new vista for each
season: boaters and fishermen on the shimmering
lakes at its base in the summer, the leaf-peepers and
hikers enjoying the brilliant colors of the hillsides
in the fall, and 300,000 skiers schussing down its
slopes every winter.

Other Boards and
Commissions
Westminster Historical Commission
Established by appointment by the Selectmen,
Westminster Historical Commission is the town Board responsible for ensuring
that preservation concerns are considered in town planning and development
decisions. The Westminster Commission works closely with the Massachusetts
Historical Commission. They serve as local preservation advocates and as an
important resource for information about their community's cultural resources
and preservation activities.
The WHC is involved in the community's
preservation planning process by identifying, describing and locating buildings,
structures, objects, areas, burial grounds, landscape features, and sites that
are of historical, architectural, or archaeological importance to the community,
the state, or the nation.
The Commission has developed a comprehensive
inventory of the town's historical assets to serve as the basis for all future
preservation activities. This inventory has been accepted by the Town and
enables the Selectmen and voters to make consistent and informed preservation
decisions.
The Westminster Historical Commission is looking
for several new members to fill open positions. For more information contact the
Commission secretary, Candi Hitchcock at 978-874-2868 or attend their next
meeting. The Commission meets at 7:00pm, on the second Monday of the month, at
the Town Hall.
Regular Monthly Meetings
are held the second Monday of the month.
Meeting place is
presently at the Town Hall, 11 South Street.
